SEPTA Multi-level Coach Project
In May 2017, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) awarded a contract to CRRC MA to design and manufacture 45 new double-decker passenger coaches. This is the first time for CRRC to export stainless steel double-deck passenger coaches to the North American market. The new multi-level coaches will meet “Buy America” requirements, with a percentage of American components, labor and fabrication done domestically. The new multi-level coaches will mainly serve commuter transportation in Philadelphia and surrounding areas, including Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia counties and other cities in the region of Delaware and New Jersey.
CRRC MA completed design and is underway with manufacturing 45 double deck passenger cars for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). These vehicles and all future North American rail car contracts will be assembled in Springfield, Massachusetts with the first coach expected for delivery by the end 2020.
