LACMTA HR4000 Heavy Rail Vehicle Project

In December 2016, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) awarded a contract to CRRC MA to design and manufacture 64 new subway cars for the Red and Purple Lines with a consideration for an additional 218 subway cars totaling $647m.  CRRC had the overall best value proposal, with the highest rated technical offer.  Vehicle manufacturing continues and CRRC MA is proud to support LA Metro’s effort to  enhance capacity on the agency’s B and D Lines in preparation for the region’s Olympic games in 2028.  CRRC MA has delivered  Forty HR4000 series to Los Angeles Metro .

MAJOR INVESTMENT

Committed to manufacturing major components locally in LA County, CRRC MA secured a 41,218 sq. ft. facility in City of Industry, an investment of nearly $40m.  Key systems include: propulsion, HVAC and lighting systems.  CRRC MA has contractually committed to a content value of 65% of U.S.-manufactured components and systems in each rail car pursuant to the FAST Act to meet Buy America requirements.

These vehicles will be assembled in Springfield, MA at CRRC MA North American Manufacturing facility.
